Entrepreneur in Research & Education | Research Mentor & Nutritional Instructor | Industry-Academia Bridge Builder | Voice for Women Empowerment

Ebney Sunjida Abedin was born in 1998 in Moulvibazar, Sylhet, Bangladesh, and grew up following a self-driven path from childhood with a vision to build a meaningful life that impacts others. Alongside her academic and university professional journey, she founded Leonore International (a research consultancy firm), Human Health Insights (focused on nutrition and life sciences), and Abedin Forestry & Ingredients (in collaboration with her family). Alongside she is playing Chief Research Officer (CRO) role at Leonore International.

Ebney is also actively engaged as a co-founder and investor in several under-development ventures, ranging from IT and language training initiatives to innovative projects in online marketplace development and AI-powered education management.

Ebney began her professional journey as a Research Intern at the Department of Health System & Population Studies Division, ICDDR,B, followed by a role as a Teaching Assistant at Daffodil International University (DIU). After gaining experience in research, teaching, and academic management, she was selected for the Teaching Apprentice Fellowship (2023) at the Human Resource Development Institute, where she received a monthly stipend and was honored as a top performer by the Vice Chancellor of her university. Later in 2023, she returned to DIU as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), while continuing her entrepreneurial ventures alongside.

At Daffodil International University, from her undergraduate studies in Nutrition and Food Engineering to her Master’s in Public Health, Ebney actively led research initiatives and coordinated industry-academia collaboration projects—particularly within her two departments under the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. She played a pivotal role in bridging institutional partnerships, notably serving as a key coordinator in facilitating academic alignment between Birmingham City University supervisors and DIU faculty, students, and alumni. Her efforts were instrumental in ensuring smooth communication, collaborative engagement, and academic excellence across both institutions.

Beyond that, Ebney contributed to shaping innovative approaches to the learning environment, managing public relations, moderating international events, and strengthening alumni networks. Her impact extended across multiple academic and research initiatives, including dedicated involvement with the DIU Public Health Club, DIU Public Health Alumni Association, and DIU NFE Alumni Association.

In parallel, Ebney began her entrepreneurial journey during her first year at university, partnering with her father—a respected businessman and former Bangladesh Army Officer—in ventures related to forestry and natural products, especially in the perfume industry. Through these early experiences and gradual involvement, she developed hands-on skills in business leadership and management rooted in her family environment.

Early Life and Education

Ebney began her academic journey in her home village, attending Tetai Goan Rashid Uddin High School, where she graduated in 2013. She then pursued her Higher Secondary education in science at BAF Shaheen College, Shamshernagar, graduating in 2015. Throughout her school and college years, she was actively involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities, including cultural programs, debate competitions, science fairs, Girl Scouts, and mentorship training. From early on, she frequently took the stage as an anchor and host, which helped her develop strong communication and leadership skills.

Driven by a passion for applying science to human health, Ebney found joy in subjects like zoology and was motivated by a desire to expand her knowledge in health sciences. This enthusiasm led her to pursue a Master’s in Nutrition and Public Health.

Her first major career aspiration was to become a medical doctor, a dream deeply cherished by both herself and her parents. Although that path didn’t materialize, she found a new opportunity to follow her passion. She enrolled in a BSc in Nutrition and Food Engineering, choosing to become a nutritionist—a decision made independently, despite her parents’ preference for a career in industry, influenced by her father’s background as a former Army officer and businessman.

Over time, Ebney discovered her confidence and strength in research, teaching, and entrepreneurship. She now finds fulfillment in combining these areas—bringing innovative ideas to life through teaching, academic research, and entrepreneurial ventures that reflect her dedication to both science and community impact.
